INSTRUMENT RATING

Are you ready to take your flying to the next level?  As an instrument pilot you can legally fly in the clouds, rain and fog.  Normally these inclement weather conditions would keep a VFR-rated pilot on the ground. At Grayhawk Flight Training, we will teach you to trust your instruments to fly the airplane, instead of outside visual cues.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Receive a minimum of 50 hours of flight time as pilot in command, of which at least 40 hours of actual or simulated instrument training

  • Learn to do VOR, RNAV & ILS approaches as well as holds

COMMERCIAL PILOT

As a commercial pilot, you will be able to fly for hire.  With this privilege, you are also expected to fly with a higher degree of skill and proficiency. At Grayhawk Flight Training, we will teach you the added maneuvers required to obtain your FAA commercial pilot's certificate.

  • Be at least a private pilot

Instrument Proficiency Check

Regulations specified in 14 CFR 61.57 (c)(1) necessitate proper proficiency for acting as Pilot in Command (PIC) of an airplane in IFR or IMC weather conditions. If you've exceeded the designated 6-month period and wish to exercise your instrument rating privileges, Grayhawk Flight Training is here to help. Our IPC program includes flying a VOR, RNAV, and ILS approach, entering a hold, and performing a lap. Unlike a pass or fail assessment, meeting the requirements will earn you a logbook endorsement. In case additional training is necessary, we can arrange further sessions.

The cost of the IPC is fixed, and if the 4 required elements exceed an hour of flight time, there will be no extra charge. Additional training will incur an additional fee. Book your IPC appointment today, even in your own plane, and regain your instrument rating privileges.
